Washington Redskins Make Roster Moves, Sign Two New Players To 53-Man Roster

The Washington Redskins lost two players for the season in Tim Hightower and Chris Cooley. As a result, they added two new players to the 53-man rosters. But in somewhat of a surprising move, neither of them are from the practice squad. They opted instead to just add Dominque Byrd and Jonathan Compas directly to the 53-man roster.

Byrd is a tight end who played his college ball at Southern California. With Cooley lost for the yea,r it is not surprising they brought in someone to add a little bit more depth to the tight end position.

Compas is an offensive lineman who has played all over the interior line. He played his collegiate ball at UC Davis.

The big surprise here is that Evan Royster did not get promoted from the practice squad to occupy one of these spots. They need a running back now that Hightower will be gone for the year and Royster was thought be some to be a candidate to make it straight onto the 53-man roster from training camp. It's a little surprising that the Redskins have chosen to add more depth at tight end than running back.

They will add a little bit more depth at running back on the practice squad in the form of Tristan Davis. Davis went to Auburn and has spent time on the practice squad of a handful of teams.
