Chris Cooley Injury Upate: Redskins' Tight End Expects 3-4 Months Of Recovery On Knee

For the first time since going on IR, Chris Cooley made some public comments this morning about his injury, his decision to be put on IR, and his future with the team. Here is some of what he said.

Chris Cooley says the decision was made to go to the IR based on a meeting with James Andrews in Florida this week. #Redskins

It is intersting that it seems like it was Cooley's decision to go on IR and not the team's, but I guess he felt that it would take him too long to come back and he didn't want to put the team in a tough position. Cooley believes it will take about 3-4 months to rehab completely, which is just too much time for the Redskins to hold a roster spot for him. One of the more interesting things he said relates to his previous nee injury and how that could have been handled differently if there was no lockout.

Cooley said he feels 100% a casualty of the lockout.. Not being able 2 treat his knee w/trainers & doctors during offseason "it's a shame"

I'm sure we'll hear plenty more about this in the coming days, and I wouldn't be surprised if the NFL wants to talk to Cooley about these comments. As for his future with the team, Cooley seems committed to staying with teh Redskins in the long term.
