The good news for Washington Redskins fans is that their team rose four spots in the ESPN Week 5 NFL Power Rankings. The bad news is that they are still not the highest NFC East team on the list, despite being the division leader after four weeks. The Redskins placed 12th on the ESPN list, two spots behind the New York Giants, who placed 10th. Here's the ESPN blurb about the Redskins:
Mike Shanahan might have found his new main ball carrier in an old friend, Ryan Torain.
This is the first prominent list that has the Redskins behind the Giants. Both teams are 3-1 this season, but the Redskins currently have the NFC East lead by virtue of their 28-14 Week 1 win over the Giants. New York has rebounded nicely, but surely that win should count for something.
As for the other NFC East teams, the Cowboys fall six spots to No. 17, while the Eagles drop three spots to No. 20.
