NFC East Standings Update: Redskins In First Place After Eagles, Giants Losses

The Washington Redskins were on a bye for Week 5 of the NFL season, but thanks to the help of some of their rivals, they moved into sole possession of first place in the latest NFC East standings. The New York Giants fell, 36-25, to the Seattle Seahawks at home, which caused them to fall from being in a first-place tie.

In addition, the Philadelphia Eagles fell to 1-4 with a 31-24 loss to the Buffalo Bills. That means the Eagles are two and a half games out of the NFC East lead coming into their game against the Redskins on October 16. Here are the latest NFC East standings:

  1. Washington Redskins (3-1)
  2. New York Giants (3-2, 0.5 games back)
  3. Dallas Cowboys (2-2, one game back)
  4. Philadelphia Eagles (1-4, 2.5 games back)

The Redskins hold the tiebreak advantage over the Giants by virtue of their Week 1 win. The Cowboys hold the tiebreak advantage over the Redskins by virtue of their Week 1 win.
