The Washington Redskins hope to have left tackle Trent Williams back from injury this week as they host the San Francisco 49ers. Williams has missed a few weeks dealing with a high ankle sprain, which tends to be a lingering injury especially for big guys. Williams said he felt he was about 70% back. "You can't play unless you're 100 percent. So we'll see how the practice goes during the week and we'll see where he's at," Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said after practice today.
Last week, the Redskins gave up 10 sacks against the Buffalo Bills as John Beck was pummeled. "I'm just hoping that, by the end of the week, Trent has a chance to play," Shanahan said. The Redskins will need to keep whoever is at quarterback upright against a stout 49ers defense. Williams is likely to give it a go at practice much of the week and be re-evaluated at the end of the week.
