49ers Vs. Redskins: Leonard Hankerson Gets First Career Start At Wide Receiver

The Washington Redskins have apparently reached the point of the season where they begin playing the youngsters. That was fairly clear when fourth-round rookie Roy Helu was named the starter at running back for their game against the San Francisco 49ers. It's become even more clear because third-round rookie Leonard Hankerson will start at wide receiver.

The news is especially surprising because Hankerson fell behind in the wide receiver rotation early in the season with some poor practices. Evidently, he's done enough to build himself back up to this point.

The Redskins will actually be starting three rookies on offense. In addition to Helu and Hankerson, seventh-round pick Maurice Hurt will be starting at left guard.
