2011 NFL Standings: New York Giants Take Command Of NFC East, Redskins In Last

The New York Giants' 24-20 win over the New England Patriots on Sunday was big for many reasons, but it was especially big because it puts them in firm command in the latest NFC East standings. The victory moves the Giants to 6-2, a full two games ahead of the Dallas Cowboys for first place in the division.

This happened despite the Cowboys themselves picking up a much-needed victory over the Seattle Seahawks. With a loss, the Cowboys could have shared last place with the lagging Washington Redskins. Instead, for the time being, the Redskins are in sole possession of last place following a 19-11 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

The Philadelphia Eagles have a chance to move into second place if they can beat the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football. For now, here is how the standings shake out.

  1. New York Giants: 6-2
  2. Dallas Cowboys: 4-4
  3. Philadelphia Eagles: 3-4
  4. Washington Redskins: 3-5
