Washington Redskins Looking To Sign Veteran Wide Receiver, According To Report

The offensive woes of the Washington Redskins continued in Week 9, as the 'Skins dropped their fourth consecutive game Sunday afternoon. The 19-11 home loss to the San Francisco 49ers was the fifth time in six games that Washington has scored fewer than 20 points.

Rookie wide receiver Niles Paul was injured in the loss, making an already depleted wide receiver corps even thinner as the Redskins prepare for the second half of their 2011 schedule. According to Jason La Canfora, the Redskins are actively pursuing a veteran wide receiver to help shore up a unit that's without Santana Moss and now Paul. La Canfora preemptively snuffs out any speculation about Washington signing Terrell Owens or Randy Moss, and instead notes that Washington's interested in bringing on 'journeymen vets'.

John Beck finished with 30 completions in Sunday's loss, but over half of them went to running backs Roy Helu (14) and Ryan Torrain (1), and fullback Darrel Young (1).  The trio of Jabar Gafney, Leonard Hankerson and Terrance Austin combined for just 10 receptions.
