NFL Playoff Picture: Washington Redskins Are Far, Far Away

The Washington Redskins will not be going to the NFL playoffs in 2011, barring an absolute miracle. Sunday's loss to the San Francisco 49ers put the Redskins on the far end of the playoff picture in the NFC, when just a month ago the Redskins were leading the NFC East.

The Redskins have since lost four straight games and faded completely out of the picture. If the playoffs began today, here would be the seeds.

  1. Green Bay Packers: 8-0
  2. San Francisco 49ers: 7-1
  3. New York Giants: 6-2
  4. New Orleans Saints: 6-3
  5. Detroit Lions: 6-2
  6. Chicago Bears: 5-3

Chicago's win over the Eagles vaulted them into the final playoff spot over the Atlanta Falcons by virtue of their Week 1 victory. Here's how the rest of the NFC stacks up.

  • Atlanta Falcons: 5-3
  • Dallas Cowboys: 4-4
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 4-4
  • Philadelphia Eagles: 3-5
  • Washington Redskins: 3-5
  • Seattle Seahawks: 2-6
  • Arizona Cardinals: 2-6
  • Carolina Panthers: 2-6
  • Minnesota Vikings: 2-6
  • St. Louis Rams: 1-7
