Albert Haynesworth Released By New England Patriots, According To Report

Three months ago, the Washington Redskins traded disgruntled defensive tackle to the New England Patriots for a fifth-round in 2012. Now, the experiment has apparently failed in New England. The Patriots will be releasing Haynesworth, according to Ian R. Rapoport of the Boston Herald.

Rapoport is also reporting that the release comes two days after Haynesworth was involved in a sideline confrontation with defensive line coach Pepper Johnson. Evidently, the Patriots learned the same things the Redskins did last year and have decided to cut bait.

Haynesworth made just three tackles for the Patriots this season in a part-time role and did not play in every game. It will be interesting to see if he ends up going back to the Philadelphia Eagles. One reported reason the Redskins traded him to New England was to keep him out of the NFC East.
