Rex Grossman Fantasy Projection: Woeful Patriots Secondary Makes Grossman A Viable Fantasy Starter

A rough season for the Washington Redskins (4-8) does not get any easier Sunday afternoon, as Washington welcomes Tom Brady and the New England Patriots (9-3) to FedEx Field for a 1:00 PM kickoff. While the real-life Redskins may have trouble preventing a fifth straight Patriots win, the outlook for positive fantasy results are much higher.

Rex Grossman is honestly a viable start at quarterback this week. The much maligned New England defense ranks dead last in the league in yards allowed (412.1) and is 31st in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game (310.0). Despite the loss of tight end Fred Davis, Grossman should be able to throw the ball all over the field Sunday, and given the Redskins will likely fall behind the Patriots, Grossman and the Redskins offense will be forced to pass the ball much of the day.

The fantasy football projection site numberFire ranks Grossman as the 20th best option at quarterback this weekend. The Washington QB's projected stats: 17.84/29.40, 211.22 yds, 1.20 TDs, 0.84 INTs for 13.48 points.

For the season, Grossman has completed 57.9 percent of his passes for 2,174 yards, tossing 10 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
