Redskins Vs. Patriots Score Update: Andre Carter Forces Fumble, Patriots Recover In End Zone For 7-0 Lead

Disaster struck early for the Washington Redskins in their game against the New England Patriots at FedEx Field. Pinned back deep into their own territory and facing a third and long, Rex Grossman dropped back, was sacked, fumbled in the end zone and the Patriots recovered for a 7-0 lead with 12:06 to go in the first quarter. Former Redskins defensive lineman Andre Carter forced the fumble and Vince Wilfork recovered.

The Redskins forced the Patriots' defense to punt, but got the ball at their own three-yard line after a penalty on the return. Grossman threw incomplete on first down, and Roy Helu was stuffed for no gain on second down. That left the Redskins in a third and long, and Carter beat Willie Smith to the edge to force the fumble. After a long scramble, Wilfork came away with it for the touchdown.
