The Redskins' signing of former St. Louis Rams safety O.J. Atogwe was nice, but it presented a practical problem. Atogwe wore No. 21 for the Rams, and No. 21, of course, is the same number the deceased Sean Taylor wore. The Redskins do not retire numbers, but nobody has worn No. 21 since Taylor's tragic death in 2007. Would Atogwe want to carry over his old number to the Redskins? If so, would the team let him.↵
Thankfully, Atogwe made it a moot issue when he sent out this tweet.↵↵
With all due respect, I will not be rocking nor even asking to rock 21...↵
The proclamation was probably spurred by some responses to Atogwe's initial tweet an hour earlier asking what number he should wear.↵
If I may, I would like to offer Atogwe another number I'd prefer he not wear. That number? No. 40. The last thing I want is to see Atogwe and think of a different former St. Louis Rams safety that was, to put it nicely, a massive disappointment in D.C.
