Our NFL Draft blog, Mocking The Draft, has come out with the latest edition of their 2011 NFL Mock Draft, and it follows the trend of giving a receiver to the Redskins in the first round. They have the 'Skins taking Georgia receiver A.J. Green, who falls to them at No. 10. Here is their rationale.
At this point, Green represents great value at a position of need. Washington has a need at the wide receiver position and Green is a potential gamebreaker. This selection will help the upcoming transition at the quarterback position.
There are a lot of Mocks out there that give the Redskins either A.J. Green or Julio Jones in the first round. I think they should probably go somewhere on the defense with that pick, but if Green is still on the board, I'm not sure they can pass him up. He is one of the best prospects in the draft at any position, so I'm not sure he'll be here at No. 10. But if he is, the Redskins probably can't afford not to take him, even though it would leave their needs on the defensive side of the ball unaddressed.
