The Sporting News just came out with their final Mock Draft before the actual NFL Draft in a few weeks. It's a full seven round mock, but we'll just focus on the first two rounds because the Redskins don't have any picks in rounds 3-5, and who really cares about rounds six and seven anyway?
In the first round, they have the Redskins making a little bit of a surprise pick in Boston College tackle Anthony Castonzo. Castonzo projects to be a pretty good player in the NFL, but this is much higher than I have seen him taken in any Mock Draft I have seen. I don't think it would be very good value for them to take Castonzo at No. 10 overall.
But they make up for that transgression in the second round where they give the Redskins a pick who would be uber-valuable in Jake Locker. I am pretty sure that at this point Locker will probably go somewhere in the mid-to-late first round. And if he makes it to the second round, there are a lot of teams drafting before the Redskins that also need a quarterback and would be happy to snag him before the Redskins have a chance.
So we have two picks, and I don't think either of them are very good. Not that I don't think these players would be good for the Redskins, I just don't think either of them will go anywhere near where they have them being picked.
