The Redskins hold the tenth overall pick in the first round of the upcoming NFL Draft, but varying reports have them targeting a quarterback who might not be available/could be bad value when they have their selection. There are, of course, two ways to solve this problem; trade up to get one of the top two prospects (Cam Newton and Blaine Gabbert) or trade back in the first round to get one of the second tier prospects while gaining another mid round draft pick.
Pete Prisco of CBS Sports reports that the Redskins may be attempting the latter.
The Redskins, who pick 10th overall, would like to get a second-round pick from a team in exchange for moving back to their spot in the first round. They could then use their two second-round picks to bolster the defense.
Prisco reports that the Redskins could target quarterbacks like Florida St.'s Christian Ponder or TCU's Andy Dalton. For a team that always ends up with fewer draft picks than are owed to them, this would be a delightful change of pace.
