Washington Redskins' 2011 Schedule Begins Against New York Giants On September 11, According To Report

The Washington Redskins' 2011 schedule will be announced officially at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, but we know they will open it against the New York GIants on September 11. In what will end up being a tribute to the 10-year anniversary of 9/11, the two teams will do battle to open their NFL schedules, according to Mike Garafalo of the Newark Star-Ledger.

The game will take place at 4:15 at FedEx Field in Landover, Md., according to Garafalo. The game will also pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the Pentagon on that fateful day 10 years ago. The NFL has decided to do what many forget and remember those in Washington D.C. who were killed, not just those who perished in the fall of the World Trade Center.

The Redskins will also be making a return visit to play the Giants on December 18. The time of that game is not yet clear. Of course, all of this is pending the end of the NFL lockout, which is ongoing.
