As expected, the NFL has announced its plans to appeal Judge Susan Richard Nelson's decision to rule in favor of the players and end the NFL Lockout. Via SBNation.com:
"We will promptly seek a stay from Judge Nelson pending an expedited appeal to the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. We believe that federal law bars injunctions in labor disputes. We are confident that the Eighth Circuit will agree."
The owners will appeal in a different court circuit because Judge Nelson has denied them the chance to appeal under her watch. The appeal would mean that the NFL Lockout would continue until the next judge makes his or her decision, which could last for months. The owners are expected to receive the stay necessary to continue the lockout on Tuesday.
Ultimately, Judge Nelson did not buy the owners' argument that the player decertification was a sham. That was the core of the owners' argument, and it ruined their case.
