Well, this one spiraled out of control quickly. To review:
↵- ↵
- Last week, Jim Wexell, who covers the Pittsburgh Steelers for steelcityinsider.net, claimed that Redskins owner Dan Snyder was on Sirius XM Radio, where he said the Redskins had a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers where they'd get the No. 16 pick before the Steelers backed out at the last minute. ↵
- On Monday, Sports Illustrated's Peter King devoted a ton of words discussing the ramifications of this in his Monday Morning Quarterback column. ↵
- Pro Football Talk picked it up and wrote a blog post on it. ↵
- ESPN's Chris Mortensen passed along the information on Twitter. ↵
Seems plausible, right? Here's the problem: Dan Snyder never appeared on Sirius XM Radio. Dan Steinberg checked with a lot of people, who confirm that Snyder hasn't been on the radio at all since the Super Bowl. Also, both Bruce Allen and Steelers GM Kevin Colbert deny trade discussions ever taking place.
↵But other than that, this story is completely true.
