Plaxico Burress Released From Prison: Should Washington Redskins Consider Him?

Plaxico Burress was released from prison on Monday after spending 20 months in prison for shooting himself in the leg at a New York City nightclub nearly three years ago. It's been a long-time coming for the former New York Giants receiver, and now, he is officially a free agent. (Well, not now, per se, because of the lockout, but as soon as that is resolved, he is a free agent).

His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, says there will be many teams that will want his services. The question is, will the Washington Redskins be one of them?

Several reports indicate they might, though it's not clear whether there's actual hard information there or whether people are just speculating because it's the Redskins. Washington does have a need at wide receiver, with Santana Moss a free agent, and Burress was certainly one of the best when he played. The risk and price is probably minimal, so why not?

On the other hand, everything Rich Tandler of CSN Washington says here is true. So let Plax go and be someone else's reclamation project.
