Josh Portis' Maryland football career was a major disappointment, but it looks like he has landed on his feet. He was not selected in the 2011 NFL Draft, but he has been signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent. His agent, JR Rickert, confirmed the news on his Twitter account.
Congratulations to client Josh Portis who is on his way to Seattle and thanks to @AgentRayB for the assist!
It remains unclear what position Portis will play for Seattle at this time, since his skills would make him suited for several different spots.
Portis came to Maryland as a highly-touted quarterback prospect, but never got on the field much. In 2007, he was caught cheating on the exam and was suspended for the season. After one year as a backup, he transferred to Division II California University of Pennsylvania.
