Football in D.C. is back, or at least it will be on Friday. That's when the Washington Redskins will open their 2011 preseason schedule at home in FedEx Field against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on Comcast SportsNet and NBC-4.
The Redskins enter this game dealing with a number of nagging injuries sustained at training camp. Chris Cooley has already been ruled out for the game, and a number of others could follow. The big question surrounds the status of John Beck, who has been limited in practice with a groin injury and may not play on Friday. Even if he plays, Rex Grossman is expected to start after being listed ahead of Beck on the depth chart.
The Steelers will likely also be working in their key players slowly, especially given the way the lockout changed the game at training camp.
