Steelers Vs. Redskins: Rex Grossman Looks Impressive In Redskins Preseason Opener, Feels Confident In This Redskins Team

Rex Grossman was the star of the show in the Redskins preseason opener, completing 19 of 26 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown. John Beck has a battle on his hands for the starting quarterback job.

Rex Grossman of the Washington Redskins might have been the most talked about player in the NFL last week, after he made the mortal mistake of suggesting to Kelli Johnson of CSN Washington that his team might actually win the NFC East. Sure, it was just the preseason opener, but Rex certainly looked like a confident leader of Kyle Shanaha's offense in the Redskins 16-7 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in preseason game one. Grossman was 19 of 26 for 207 yards and a touchdown pass, connecting with veteran wide receiver Santana Moss on an eight yard scoring strike in the second quarter.

Johnson caught up with Grossman after the game on CSN Washington's "Redskins Postgame Live", and asked him about the impressive offensive performance:

"We had a good start. Every time you go out there, you want to be productive, move the ball and do all the things you do in practice."

Grossman also added he felt he had an even better grasp of the offense this season:

"I felt the game slowed down for me even more so this year."

John Beck, I think this was Rex Grossman letting you know the starting quarterback job is not going to be simply handed to you on a platter. I think, but time will tell. It is only the preseason opener, after all.
