Redskins Vs. Steelers Broadcast Was Team's Highest-Rated Preseason Game In 20 Years

I'm not sure whether to interpret this fact as a sign of the excitement surrounding the Washington Redskins this season (possible, but doesn't seem right), the time slot (Friday in prime time), the need for football fans to get their fix after a long lockout (likely) or all of the above, but the Washington Redskins' NFL preseason broadcast against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday drew record ratings for a preseason game. Here's the announcement from the team.

The #Redskins-Steelers broadcast drew a 16.3 last Friday, beating the team's previous preseason record of 15.1, set last year vs. Baltimore.less than a minute ago via TweetDeck Favorite Retweet Reply

The game was broadcasted on Comcast SportsNet in high definition and on NBC in standard definition, so bully for them. Dan Steinberg notes that those ratings equate to roughly 390,000 households and blow any Capitals or Nationals broadcasts out of the water. Just in case you thought this wasn't a Redskins town, think again.
