Kareem Moore Injury Likely To Send Redskins' Safety To Physically Unable To Perform List

It looks like the Washington Redskins may be without backup safety Kareem Moore for the start of the 2011 NFL season. Moore has been sidelined with an injury all through training camp, and coach Mike Shanahan hinted on Saturday that he could begin the season on the Physically Unable to Perform List, which would mean he would miss six weeks.

Via Rick Maese of the Washington Post:

"I really don't know with Kareem, because he's getting better. But I want to get him to that certain level where he can play in a game," Shanahan said. "He's such a competitor that he wants to practice, he wants to go in. But until he's close to one hundred percent, I don't want to put him in that situation or we'll go back to what happened last year, too."

Last year, Moore was the starting free safety, bu rushed back from a training camp knee injury and was very ineffective. The Redskins signed OJ Atogwe from St. Louis to replace him in the starting lineup.
