Thursday's Buccaneers vs. Redskins NFL preseason game offers the last chance for the Redskins' many rookies and others to make their case to make the final 53-man roster. The final batch of NFL cuts will take place on Saturday, and 27 players will ultimately get the ax (though eight can be re-signed afterwards to the practice squad). That makes Thursday's game very important for a number of players on the current 80-man roster.
CSN Washington's Rich Tandler identifies 17 players who he believes are on the bubble to make the team. They are as follows:
- RB Keiland Williams
- WR Niles Paul
- WR Donte Stallworth
- OL Maurice Hurt
- OL Erik Cook
- RB Evan Royster
- FB Mike Sellers
- WR Brandon Banks
- DE Darrion Scott
- DE Doug Worthington
- DT Chris Neild
- LB Rob Jackson
- LB Markus White
- CB Brandyn Thompson
- CB Byron Westbrook
- S DeJon Gomes
- S Chris Horton
Over at Hogs Haven, Daniel Shiferaw specifically looks at the 12 Redskins rookies and their chances of making the team. Shiferaw assumes that top pick Ryan Kerrigan, third-round pick Leonard Hankerson and fourth-round pick Roy Helu are on the team. Second-round pick Jarvis Jenkins is on injured reserve.
