The Redskins always seem to be searching for kickers and punters, either due to injury or ineffectiveness, so it's nice to know one of their position players might be able to step up in a pinch. This is a video of running back Tim Hightower booming 40-yard field goals before the Redskins' preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hightower isn't playing in the game, so he had plenty of time to practice his other hobby.
As you can see here, he's not messing around either. He's kicking with a holder and everything, backing up and going through a real motion. He's not getting quite as much leg on the kick as a normal kicker would, but that's to be expected because he's a running back. Overall, that's pretty darn impressive work by Hightower.
Graham Gano better watch out. Just when he thought he disposed of his competition in Shayne Graham, he now has to deal with Hightower.
