Cardinals vs Redskins Score Update: Cardinals Maintain Slim Lead

Remember all those yards the Redskins offense put up in the first half? That momentum was lost in the third quarter as the Cardinals took the lead 14-10. The Redskins were able to inch the game closer thanks to a Graham Gano field goal early in the fourth quarter to make it 14-13 Arizona.

After no punts in the first half, Washington punter Sav Rocca entered the game twice in the third. Running back Roy Helu is making himself a factor in the Washington backfield, as he continues to find seams in the defense and grab chunks of yardage for the Redskins. He currently is averaging more than seven yards per carry.

The Cardinals' Beanie Wells found his stride in the third quarter, ripping off long runs and churning inside. He now stands at 90 yards rushing including the go ahead touchdown. An injury bug in the Redskins defensive backfield is not helping, as Arizona's Kevin Kolb increasingly looks for receiver Larry Fitzgerald. A key play in the third quarter came on a London Fletcher interception that thwarted a promising drive for the Cardinals. Fletcher rumbled downfield for an impressive return, though the return was overturned after Cardinal coach Ken Whisenhunt challenged that Fletcher was down by contact.
