Week 4 NFL Power Rankings: Redskins Fall Slightly In ESPN's Latest

How much do NFL Power Rankings mean? Not much, and certainly not this early in the season. But they're a fun and interesting way to check in on how major media outlets' view what's unfolding across the National Football League. We've taken a look at SB Nation's Week 4 Power Rankings, as well as CBS's list. Neither bumped the Washington Redskins down from their previous position at No. 13 despite picking up their first loss of the season in Week 3, an 18-16 loss at Dallas on Monday Night Football.  Now let's turn to the World Wide Leader to see whether they moved Mike Shanahan's team down after the loss.

Rank: 16 ; Previous: 15

Despite losing to Dallas, this team is going to be in the mix in the NFC East. Who would've thought that? (Fox)

Sounds like the consensus is pretty much universal -- scribes are impressed with the 'Skins and confident that Shanahan's coaching savvy will allow them to hang tight in the competitive NFC East despite having the least capable quarterback in the division in Rex Grossman.

Keep an eye on Washington's Week 4 opponent, the St. Louis Rams. At 0-3, they're desperate to salvage their season before it's too late. They'll be at home for the second consecutive week after getting humiliated in front of their home crowd last Sunday by the Baltimore Ravens. Expect Washington to have to play well to improve to 3-1 and inch closer towards the top-10 of these same Power Rankings in Week 5.
