2012 NFL Mock Draft: SI.com Has Redskins Taking A Different Quarterback

It's no secret the Washington Redskins will be looking to pick up their potential quarterback of the future, and many pundits have the Redskins doing so in the 2012 NFL Draft. In Don Banks new mock draft on SI.com, he has the Redskins picking a quarterback, but it's not the quarterback everyone expects the Redskins to take in the first round.

Washington Redskins
Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M. So let's keep in mind that this is our first mock of the year, not our seventh, which runs the day before the draft. I'm aware that Tannehill's broken foot makes him a giant question mark at this point, and could possibly knock him out of the first round. But there's a quarterback every year who gets pushed up the board in the pre-draft scouting process (see Ponder, Christian in 2011), and my early read is that Tannehill is the most likely candidate. Washington's desperation at quarterback is obvious, and no Matt Barkley or Landry Jones means the Redskins might have to roll the dice on the former Aggie.

Some people think Tannehill actually fits Mike Shannahan perfectly because of Tannehill's ability to throw on the move. The A&M quarterback is dealing with a foot injury however that forced him out of the Senior Bowl and could have him miss the NFL combine.
