Washington Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon has a ruptured ligament in the bottom of the second toe on his injured right foot. Garcon visited foot and ankle specialist Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte, N.C. on Wednesday and learned of the ruptured ligament in his toe, according to ESPN 980.

According to sources, Garcon has two options with his injury -- surgery or rest -- and he has opted for rest. There is no timetable for the injury to heal and surgery may still be an option if it does not get better with rest. NFL sources label the ruptured ligament a fairly serious injury.

Garcon injured his foot in Week 1 of the season against the New Orleans Saints. He was activated for Week 4 and Week 5 before being shut down again. He injured the toe on an 88-yard touchdown reception against the Saints. When Garcon returned against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons, he was limited to a total of four receptions for 44 yards in those two games.

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said Garcon might not play again until after the Redskins Week 10 bye.
