Pickers are pretty evenly split about Sunday's matchup between the Carolina Panthers and Washington Redskins, with perhaps a slight edge going to Robert Griffin III's Washington squad.
The Panthers are led by last year's rookie of the year, Cam Newton, while Griffin seems to be the runaway favorite to take this year's award. Although Newton has averaged 243 yards passing while leading his team in rushing, he has had some truly sub-par performances sprinkled into a season that's a step down from last year as his team has stumbled to 1-6. Griffin's performance have been pretty consistently great, but a questionable defense is to blame for the team's 3-5 record. Joel Thorman of SB Nation examined the matchup while picking the Redskins, 27-24 in his Week 9 NFL picks post.
CBS had a split vote, with three pickers choosing each team, while USA Today was similarly undecided with four going to the Redskins and three to the Panthers. Two of three at Yahoo! picked Washington, while algorithms from CBS and Yahoo!'s pick'em pool sided with the Redskins.
