Washington Redskins center Will Montgomery has been fined $10,000 by the NFL for an altercation with Giants defensive tackle Linval Joseph in the third quarter of the game between the two teams on Monday night, according to Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan.
Montgomery kicked at Joseph as the Giants defender was attempting to pull the Redskins lineman off of a pile. Joseph responded with a kick and stomp of his own, and punishment has yet to be handed down on his side. The mass of players in the scene below was the result of a fumble by Washington running back Alfred Morris.
Neither player was ejected from the game after the incident, and the Redskins went on to win the game, 17-16. That victory pulled Washington within a game of the Giants in the NFC East.
Montgomery is in his seventh NFL season, and has been with the Redskins since 2008. He has started every game this season, and started all 16 in 2012.
