Super Bowl 2012 Commercials: NFL's 'Evolution' Player Safety Ad Fails To Convince

The NFL kind of had to put out this player safety commercial during Super Bowl XLVI. Given all the uproar over big hits recently, it had no choice. And yet, something about this 60-minute spot rubbed me the wrong way.

Nothing about this is factually wrong, but is the NFL really right to pat itself on the back about their historical concern over player safety? I can understand the league admitting they are starting to care about player safety right now, but let's not pretend they've cared all that much about player safety in the past. Jon Bois' thoughts here mirror mine.
