2012 NFL Mock Draft: Redskins Trade With Rams Will Net Them Robert Griffin III

The Washington Redskins' trade with the St. Louis Rams should make it easy for people to write out the top two picks of their 2012 NFL Mock Draft. In trading the No. 6 overall pick, a 2012 second-round pick, a 2013 first-round pick and a 2014 first-round pick to move up to No. 2, the Redskins all but assured that they will take Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III.

The Redskins hope that Griffin can be their signal-caller for the next 10 years and beyond, figuring that the heavy price to pay was necessary to land that kind of player. The alternatives were signing a retread free agent, picking someone like Ryan Tannehill at No. 6 or sticking with Rex Grossman and John Beck.

The Rams, meanwhile, will have a chance to replenish their depth with the extra picks. The latest NFL Mock Draft has them picking wide receiver Justin Blackman at No. 6.
