2012 NFL Free Agency: Redskins Still in Negotiations With London Fletcher

Mike Shanahan met with the assembled media for the first time in a few months on Wednesday, and one of the topics of conversation was London Fletcher, the leader of the Washington defense for the past few years who is still a free agent. According to Rich Campbell of the Washington Times, Shanahan couldn't go into detail about his intentions with Fletcher, but he was clear that the Redskins want him back.

"I can’t get into detail; all I can say is we want him," Shanahan said. "There’s conversations ongoing between agents. That’s part of the process. We’ll let that take its course, but I’m hoping he’s part of our organization, and I expect him to be."

There is a lot of speculation that the Redskins are waiting on Fletcher until they can get their salary cap issue with the NFL resolved, and they know exactly how much space they will have moving forward.
