NFL Free Agency 2012: Re-Signing Tim Hightower Still Possibility For Redskins

Tim Hightower, who began last season as the Washington Redskins starting running back before an ACL tear ended his campaign, remains a free agent this offseason and could possibly return to the team. Via Mike Jones of the Washington Post's Insider:

Free agent running back Tim Hightower visited the New England Patriots Saturday, but the Washington Redskins still remain in play to re-sign the four-year veteran, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Before being lost for the season in a game against the Carolina Panthers, Hightower had gained 321 yards on 84 carries, scoring a touchdown on the ground and scoring once through the air. Hightower showed an excellent ability to block in the backfield and is not even 26 years old yet, so if fully recovered he would be a worthy low-risk signing by Washington.
