Redskins Free Agency: Kicker Neil Rackers Says He Has Signed With Washington

Free agent kicker Neil Rackers told a Houston television station he signed a one-year contract with Washington Redskins, according to a report in The Washington Post. The team has not yet confirmed the deal, but Rackers did meet with the club on Monday said he was "headed to Washington" with a deal. Via Mark Maske:

"We're going to see what happens, but it seems like the best opportunity for me and my family at this point," Rackers told the TV station. "There's more upside, more opportunity for advancement in Washington."

Rackers was apparently miffed that he did not get a multi-year offer from the Texans, as he said was promised. He's a veteran kicker who's had success in Arizona and Houston. If the deal is official, Rackers would compete with Graham Gano for the starting job.
