With the 102nd pick of the 2012 NFL draft, the Washington Redskins have selected Kirk Cousins, a quarterback out of Michigan State. Cousins was considered the fourth or fifth best QB in this season's NFL draft behind the first two overall picks Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III along with Ryan Tannehill, so where he was going to be drafted was a bit of a mystery. Most mock drafts had him going around the second round so this selection spot was surprising.
In his final year with Michigan State, Cousins put up 25 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. A boost to his stock is that he played in a pro system rather than the spread offense which are all the rage in college ball right now.
The Redskins next pick is the 14th selection in the 4th round.
