The Washington Redskins have finally addressed needs along the offensive line, selecting guard Adam Gettis from Iowa with the sixth pick in the fifth round, the 141st overall selection in the 2012 NFL Draft.
Gettis is undersized for a lineman, at just 293 pounds, but what he lacks in size he makes up with quick feet and smarts along the line, a trait welcome and needed in the Shanahan's blocking scheme. Gettis started full-time only as a senior for the Hawkeyes, so inexperience entering the next level could be a concern. The team will likely also ask Gettis to gain at least 10 to 15 pounds before the season begins so as not to be pushed around by NFL defenders.
