Brandon Banks Will Make 2012 Redskins Roster; Tim Hightower Cut, According To Report

John Keim of the Washington Examiner has confirmed that wide receiver Brandon Banks will make the Washington Redskins' 2012 roster.

This comes following an impressive performance in Wednesday's preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Showcasing his overall athleticism, Banks made a 47-yard catch, a 43-yard run, and a 22-yard punt return.

The night was not without its flaws though, as third-year veteran also dropped a pass, botched a handoff, and bobbled a punt.

On the flip side, Mark Maske of the Washington Post reported that the Redskins had cut running back Tim Hightower, who had struggled to come all the way back from offseason knee surgery.

The Redskins have until 9 p.m. Friday night to cut their active roster down to 53 players. So far, word has leaked out about 16 of the 22 cuts, which have been conveniently aggregated by Rich Campbell of The Washington Times.

The cuts are:

OFFENSE
WR Terrence Austin
OT Tom Compton
C/G Erik Cook
QB Jonathan Crompton
RB Tristan Davis
C/G Grant Garner
RB Tim Hightower
OT Willie Smith

DEFENSE
CB Travon Bellamy
NT Marlon Favorite
ILB D.J. Holt
NT Delvin Johnson
CB David Jones
ILB Bryan Kehl
LB Brian McNally
CB Brandyn Thompson
