Redskins Vs. Saints: Redskins Sign Safety Jordan Pugh

The Washington Redskins signed safety Jordan Pugh on Monday, filling the roster spot opened when safety Jordan Bernstine was placed on the injured reserve.

Pugh, a sixth-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, spent the last two seasons with the Carolina Panthers. He was released by Carolina during the final wave of roster cuts. The 24-year-old will replace the rookie Bernstine, who was placed on injured reserve after he tore the ACL, MCL and PCL in his knee during the Redskins season opener against the New Orleans Saints.

Pugh played in 27 games during his two-year career with the Panthers, including three starts. He tallied 31 tackles, three pass deflections and an interception during that span. He also has some experience as a kick returner, having returned 11 kicks with a 24.5 yards per return average for Carolina.

With the Redskins, Pugh will likely play a role on special teams and as a backup safety.
