Robert Griffin III Nominated For NFL Rookie Of The Week

After completing 19 of 26 passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 40-32 victory over the New Orleans Saints, Washington Redskins' rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III has been nominated for NFL Rookie of the Week. The award, which also features New York Jets' wide receiver Stephen Hill, New England Patriots' defense end Chandler Jones, Tampa Bay Buccaneers' running back Doug Martin and Minnesota Vikings' kicker Blair Walsh as nominees, will be announced on Friday.

Griffin's effort helped the visiting Redskins, 7-point underdogs entering the game, defeat one of the NFC's best teams in an impressive Week 1 performance at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Griffin, who also rushed for 42 yards on 10 carries, helped the Washington offense total 464 yards and outscore a Saints attack led by four-time All-Pro quarterback Drew Brees.

The highlight of Griffin's performance was this 88-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Pierre Garcon.
