Robert Griffin III Upsets The Nike Powers-That-Be

Robert Griffin III angered the NFL officials on Park Avenue when he covered up the Nike logo on his shirt while warming up before the Redskins opener against the Saints. Griffin concealed the swoosh logo with black marker, writing an "H" over it and spelling out "Heart" down his left side. Nike is the league's new uniform provider but RGIII has a much-publicized deal to endorse adidas.

The move caught the attention of the league, and NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told ESPN's Darren Rovell that they would address it with the Skins superstar rookie:

"It won't happen again," McCarthy said.

Because it was not uniform violation during the game, the league will not likely issue a fine for the alteration. But it's clear that Griffin III's adidas evangelization may be curtailed going forward. The rookie will try to back up his amazing debut this week in St. Louis against the Rams.
