Washington Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon missed practice on Wednesday after injuring his right foot in the first quarter of the Redskins' season opening win over the New Orleans Saints. X-rays were negative on Garcon's foot, but he has yet to return to practice since suffering the injury. He was on the practice field on Wednesday for jogging and stretching, but he did not participate in any drills.
Despite leaving in the first quarter, Garcon was still the Redskins' leading receiver with 109 yards and a touchdown. It was on an 88-yard TD reception that his foot was injured. Garcon and the Redskins are hopeful that the WR will be ready to go for Sunday's 1:00 p.m. EST game against the St. Louis Rams, but coach Mike Shanahan offered little insight, saying "we'll see how he is tomorrow."
The Rams suffered their own injury problems in Week 1, losing two starting offensive linemen. Center Scott Wells broke his foot and OT Rodger Saffold went down with a neck injury. Neither player will be available against the Redskins.
