2012 NFL Schedule: Cowboys And Giants Kick Off The New Season

The 2012 NFL Schedule will get underway on Wednesday night with the New York Giants hosting the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium.

The defending Super Bowl champions come into the season as remarkable after-thoughts compared to the high-powered teams such as the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles.

Keeping in the NFC East, the Washington Redskins will start the Robert Griffin III era in perhaps the most inhospitable stadium around, the Superdome against the New Orleans Saints. The Redskins have their work cut out for them, but it's yet to be seen how New Orleans will fair without head coach Sean Payton.

Maybe the most anticipated game on Sunday is the San Francisco 49ers visiting the not-yet-frozen tundra of Lambeau Field. The Niners are expected to compete for a Super Bowl for the first time in years while Green Bay tries to win its second title in three years.

In the AFC, the Denver Broncos are set to host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night. After ending the Steelers season with Tim Tebow, they'll ring in the current one with Peyton Manning. Of course, it'll be the first game Manning plays in since his loss in the 2010 playoffs against the New York Jets.
