The Robert Griffin III era will get off to a tough start according to oddsmakers Sunday, as most lines have the Washington Redskins as underdogs by about a touchdown in their season opener against New Orleans.
The Saints may be missing its head coach and several key defensive players such as Jonathan Vilma, but the return of Drew Brees after a long holdout means the Saints are still expected to be a tough win in the NFC. Factor in that the Redskins have to head to the Superdome and the matchup is sure to be a difficult one for a Redskins team trying to find its identity on both sides of the ball.
That said, the odds are starting to tilt toward the Redskins: Although the opening line had the Saints as 8.5-point favorites, some books now have the spread as low as 7 points.
Spread: Saints -7.5
Odds: Saints -360, Redskins +300
Over/under: 50
