NFL Picks Week 1: Redskins Vs. Saints

The Robert Griffin III era officially begins for the Washington Redskins on Sunday as they pay a visit to New Orleans and the embattled Saints in Week 1.

While optimism is high in the nation's capital, experts seem to generally believe that going into the Superdome to begin a career might be too tough a task for the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback.

SB Nation's NFL Editor Joel Thorman predicted a 31-20 Saints victory:

"This is a good game for RGIII to get in a groove with the Saints defense seeing a lot of changes since last year. Unfortunately, it's an even better game for the Saints offense to get into a groove."

Elsewhere, ESPN's panel of prognosticators heavily favored New Orleans, with only three of 12 experts going with the Redskins, and Sports Illustrated's Peter King forecasted a 30-17 Saints win, predicting a "nice debut for Griffin III, but not nice enough."

Yahoo! Sports three-man panel of Mike Silver, Jason Cole and Les Carpenter unanimously went with the Saints as well.
