Redskins Vs. Saints: Washington Up 30-17 After Three Quarters In New Orleans

The Washington Redskins lost wide receiver Pierre Garcon to a right foot injury after he scored a touchdown in the first quarter. But with rookie Robert Griffin III at the helm, the Redskins offense is clicking and has Washington up 26-14 going into the fourth quarter.

Griffin is blistering the Saints' defense to the tune of 15-for-21 passing for 258 yards and two scores.

Rookie running back Alfred Morris scored from a yard out to end the Redskins' first drive of the second half. The drive was helped by a pass interference penalty on 4th and 1. Washington also added a 37-yard field goal by Billy Cundiff with 7:15 left in the third quarter.

Griffin has done a good job of leading lengthy drives and taking time off the clock while producing results.

Only special teams mistakes are hurting the Redskins in their upset bid. A blocked punt returned for a touchdown in the second quarter and a fumbled punt return in the third quarter were the big gaffes, but the Saints were unable to capitalize on the third-quarter turnover.
