Half Smokes Highlights: Even Losses Are Exciting

John Wall hasn't made a dramatic impact in the win-loss standings just yet, but his highlight plays are giving Wizards fans something to talk about, which is more than can be said for the Wizards over the past two seasons. The Wizards are quickly becoming a league pass favorite in NBA circles. Plays like this one will keep the Wizards a high priority on SportsCenter long after they've become an afterthought in the standings:

All that said, it's understandable why Flip Saunders wants to focus more on the plays that don't make the highlight reel. There's a reason why this team is 2-6 and dwelling on the good won't help this team get better with the bad. The Wizards' highlight plays aren't inversely affecting their ability to execute the basics, but they can become a stumbling block when players dwell on them instead of boxing out, setting good screens and all that fun stuff.

Luckily, we're not the players. So watch these highlights to your heart's content. It's a good salve when your team gets out rebounded by 18.
